Frequently Asked Questions
1. I don't like fondant, but I want a smooth cake. Can it be done without fondant?
Absolutely! I try my best to avoid using fondant if possible, and a beautifully smooth cake with nice crisp edges can be achieved with buttercream.
2. How does payment work?
I have a retainer policy, meaning at the time of booking your order I require at least half of the payment upfront. This portion is non-refundable because I will turn down other orders I receive for the same event date.
The second half of the payment needs to be made by at least one month in advance so that I can order all necessary supplies/ingredients for your cake. You are also welcome to pay in full upfront at the moment of booking if it's easier to just get it out of the way!
If you're event is less than one month away, I will need to receive full payment right at the time of ordering.
Your order is not considered fully booked until I receive payment, so if another client is looking to book on the same day, I will book whoever completes their payment first.
Please reach out if you have any questions/concerns about this.
3. Do some flavors cost more than others?
Yes. Adding any cake, buttercream, or filling option that comes off my specialty menu will increase the cost of the cake. Choosing multiple flavors for tiered cakes will also increase the price.
4. What payment methods are accepted?
My preferred payment methods are Venmo or PayPal. Under special circumstances I can accept cash or check.
5. Will I need to pick up my order?
Cake transport can be stressful, so I would love to deliver your order directly to your event! I do charge a delivery fee depending on the location of your event. I'm based out of Springville, Utah, so farther deliveries will cost a bit more. As an example, if you're event will be in Utah Valley, the delivery fee might be somewhere between $5-$25. Again, I do highly recommend delivery because the last thing you want to worry about on your big day is cake transportation!
6. How is pricing calculated?
Pricing includes the cost of all ingredients used in making the cake, and also factors in the hours I spend baking and decorating the cake. This is why more complex designs will cost more- not necessarily due to expensive ingredients, but for the time commitment involved.
7. Can I request a flavor that's not on the menu?
You are welcome to request a flavor that's not on my menu, and I will do my best to accommodate it! But in most cases, I stick to the flavor option I have listed on my website.
8. Do you have gluten free/allergen free options?
Sadly, I do not currently have gluten free/allergen free options, and while I do follow good handling and food safety practices, all my products come with the warning that they are produced in a kitchen that also processes allergens. If you need to know the ingredients in a cake, buttercream, or filling for allergen reasons, feel free to message me about it.
9. Do you have the proper licenses and registration to operate?
Happy to say I do! I have a valid food handler's permit, a cottage food license, and a business license in order to operate my out-of-home bakery.
If you have any other questions about your order, please feel free to shoot me a message!
